Australia Skilled Migration

Australia Skilled Migration

The Skilled Migration Program is designed to welcome professionals with occupations listed on the Skilled Occupations list. To initiate the process, individuals need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect, allowing Australian immigration officials to evaluate their profiles. This program offers various subclasses, and applicants must choose the one that best suits their circumstances. The available subclasses are as follows:

Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189):

This visa is points-based and is intended for applicants who haven't received a nomination from an employer, state, territory, or family member.

Skilled - Nominated (subclass 190) Visa:

Also a points-based visa, this option is for applicants who have been nominated by an Australian state or territory. Even if you haven't been nominated by an employer, you can still apply for this visa.

Eligibility Requirements for Subclass 190 and 189 Visas:
  • Possess experience in an occupation listed on Australia's Skilled Occupations List.
  • Obtain a skill assessment report from a designated authority relevant to your occupation.

The Subclass 190 visa is aimed at immigrants who possess skills and qualifications in high demand in specific states within Australia, even if they may not have enough points to qualify for a Skilled Independent Visa under the Skilled Migration program. This visa is suitable for skilled professionals and tradespeople who can secure a nomination from an Australian state or territory.

Skilled - Recognized Graduate Visa (subclass 476):

Recent engineering graduates are eligible for this visa, allowing them to live, work, or study in Australia for up to 18 months. Applicants must have completed their engineering degree from a specified institution within the past two years and be under the age of 31.

Graduate Temporary (Subclass 485) Visa:

This visa is designed for international students who have completed a minimum of 2 years of study in Australia.

Skilled - Nominated or Sponsored Provisional (Subclass 491) Visa:

This points-based visa is available for applicants nominated by an Australian state or territory, or by a relative residing in regional areas (excluding Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane). It permits individuals to live and work in regional areas, with the flexibility to move between regional locations. Initially, it's a temporary visa valid for 5 years and can be converted to Permanent Residency (PR) after working for 3 years with a minimum threshold annual salary of AUD53,900. Applications under the 491 subclass are eligible for priority processing.

Skilled Regional (Subclass 887) Visa:

This is a permanent visa for migrants who currently hold other applicable visas.
